J. M. Monger

J.M. played four years on the Varsity Boy's Soccer Team from 1999 - 2002. With J. M. as a member of the team the program had an overall record of 46 - 19 - 4. He led the team as a team captain in 2001 to the programs first ever Valley District Regular Season Championship then did it again in 2002. As a team captain again in 2002, he helped the program win its first ever Valley District Tournament Championship beating Waynesboro HS 2 - 0.
He currently is #4 on the all-time points list netting 36 goals and helping with 23 assists for a total of 95 points. As a freshman and Sophmore he was selected as a 3rd Team All-District player. In his final two years he earned many post season awards, in 2001 he was a 1st Team All-District, 2nd Team All-Region, and an Honorable Mention All-State selection. In his Senior year, 2002, he was a 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-Region, and 1st Team All-State selection. On top of all that he was the 2002 Valley District Player of the Year.
After graduating from TA, J. M. went to Roanoke College to continue his soccer career. He played four seasons for the Maroons winning several team and individual awards.
J. M. also has the distinction of being the first member of the boys soccer program to be inducted into the Turner Ashby Athletic Hall of Fame.
